HAIR TIPS
Oval face with thin hair: The oval face shape is what most hairstyles are created from, so you would look wonderful with almost anything. What determines to be the best hairstyle for you is based on what your lifestyle is like or how much time you have to spend with your hair and the tools you are most comfortable using. You may want to try a short or graduated bob. You may even want to try some soft, subtle layers.
Growth pattern with curl: You can not change a growth pattern, this is something that people are born with; there is probably a family member somewhere down the line who has the same growth pattern as you. If you want to change your style, and you are willing to put in the time and energy, you could have your hair straightened. Most straighteners do not completely take the wave out of the hair, they only relax the curl and make it easier to straighten with a dryer and flat iron. You should research and decide which hair straightener will be best for you. They are all chemicals and you should stay with the same type because certain chemicals should not be used together.
Spice up a ponytail: When you wear your hair in a ponytail try backcombing 1 inch sections of hair from the corner of your eyes back to the crown then lightly spray with hairspray and smooth lightly into a ponytail. Practice this technique so you can become comfortable with it before you decide to wear it out.
Flat hair/heated styling tools: If your hair is too flat you may want to try a style that brings your sides up a little with layers that blend your top and length together. You may want to consider color. Highlights will give you some volume. As for the damage that you are doing to the ends of your hair, Kerastase has products that help to protect and strengthen the hair from the heat where it is weak.
Tangles: We recommend Kerastase Oleo Relax Serum or Lait Nutrisculpt for styling that will not leave your hair with a heavy, oily look or feel. When you are working the product into your hair use your fingers to distribute the product and begin by working the tangles out at the bottom. Then try using your fingers as a comb. Comb underneath and on top of the hair.
Dry/damaged/permed hair: The hair is dry because it is damaged. The damage does not go away, and serums can only do so much. You could end up doing a lot more damage. We recommend that you give your hair a rest from the perms and maybe seek out a hairstyle that works with the natural texture of your hair.
Brown to Blonde: We would begin by adding highlights. This would start the process of going blonde. You may find that you want a color that is darker with lighter highlights mixed in.
Maintenance/Over the counter color: Regrettably we can not advise on colors “over the counter”. These colors are labeled “ginger snap” or “mocha” and do not tell the true nature of the color. If you are trying to prevent color maintenance we would be happy to tint your hair back to your natural color. Come into our salon anytime for a free consultation.
Eye color/long face - We could take cues from your eye color to add to your hair. A hairstyle that sits above the shoulders and gives you fullness on the sides will suit your face shape the best.
